Archimedes' Principle of Ship

 ASSALAMUALAIKUM

I'm Nur Anis Sofea want to make explanation about application of Archimedes' Principle for ship that have been taught by Puan Nurul Wahida to us.

The diagram below is the example of Archimedes Principle of Ship:

1. A ship though very heavy, floats in the sea. This is because the volume of sea water displaced by the ship is sufficiently large to have a weight equal to the weight of the ship.

2. Although a ship is constructed of metal, which has a greater density than water, its shape is hollow so that the overall density of the ship is less than the sea water. As a result, the buoyant force acting on the ship is large enough to support its weight.

3. The density of sea water varies with location. To ensure that a ship is loaded to within safety limits, the Plimsoll line marked on the body of the ship acts as guide.

4. A ship will submerge deeper in fresh water because the density of fresh water is less than sea water. This is why a ship must displace more water to obtain sufficient buoyant force to support its weight.

5. A ship can also float higher in cold seasons because of the higher density of cold water.

Based on my understanding, I understood 70% about this concept. Now I'm getting to more understand about the buoyant force of the ship. I will more focus and ask my teacher to get more information about this concept.

I'm Nurul Aqilah was understood about 75% when I learned Archimedes' Principle of ship. I will do more practice to enhance my understanding about this concept.
